The ; is properly used in the following manner: I waned to stroll through the park today; than remembered I had an appointment with the chiropodist.

Sort of demonstrates my position that semi-colons are like loaded guns in the hands of drunken teenagers.

Well, in his defense, he indicated that he knows grammar. He didn't say he could spell.

Spelling IS grammar. That's why 'waned' isn't 'wanted'.
