No Addington, we're free

"but not as different today as a lot of people may think. … No American should think that we're free, or that the war is over. Because that's wrong."

I, like Nadler, am from NYC and saw the smoke up close. He represents people in the area, some who died. We both think "we're free" and freedom requires certain limits on gov't.

He might correct me in his smart aleck way that he meant "free" from the threats. But, clearly his kind thinks such threats require use to temper freedom much more. Washington didn't think that in 1776 as to treatment of prisoners etc., nor should we.

Addington came out as an asshole, Yoo as a loser playing dumb. The idea Congress can't investigate btw because of executive privilege or the like was exaggerated in the extreme here. But, anyways, I don't know how much value this hearing had, but if it showed even a bit what we are dealing with, it served a purpose.

That quote was like a small glimpse into his (and this admin's) psyche, was it not?

When I read it, I admit I got a little shiver down my spine.
