There is Money-getting it is the problem
by Anni

Back to the point where it was mentioned that the government subsidizes 1/3 of daycare, and leaves off with a sigh as if no more could be possible...

Uncle Sam is writing huge checks everyday--for example, a $500 billion dollar loan to (British company) Westinghouse to build nuclear power plants in China (see article "Four Amendments and A Funeral") by Matt Taibbi, Rolling Stone, as an example. This list goes on....

Let's not even talk about the cost of the Iraq war.

We have gobs of money--our own money--subsidizing corporations worldwide. Most of these expenditures directly or indirectly stand against the interests of family life and children, let alone national security. But we're too busy working two jobs to keep track of the corruption, let alone do anything about it.

Anyone have any ideas about how to get back our own money to pay for things that matter--like decent child care, health care, infrastructure?

My guess is no. No money for you, babies.
