I read with interest and dismay your article on Arthur Lee.

Of all the reviews I have read of "Forever Changes" yours is possibly the most absurd.

Calling it a "mess" and the product of an "immature talent" is so far off the mark that I must question whether you actually listened to the album at all.

Of all the psychedelic albums of that period "Changes" is, for me, the most focused and solid of the lot.

There is no album that better captures late sixties LA than Love's masterpiece.

In addition to Arthur's fine songs, look at Bryan Maclean's contributions, in particular "Old Man" with its great melody and wonderful lyrics.

Bryan was all of 17 when he wrote this tune.

He was already showing a remarkable musical maturity.

I can't help but think you are a young reviewer with some kind of axe to grind and some kind of need to diminish the reputations of sixties icons like Arthur Lee.

Say what you will about that era, but it is undeniable that no other period has produced so much great popular music.

You should rethink your opinions on Mr. Lee and his work.
