Yeah, I'm as liberal as they get, and I am just plain confused about this.
Is
there a counter-argument from Polanski's supporters? Do they allege the
girl is a liar or something? Maybe I am in the dark, but on the
straight facts -- sexual assault of a minor -- I don't really see where
sympathy or forgiveness should be accorded.
But hey, maybe I
don't know the "story behind the story". Is it just that the judge was
a bastard (reneging on the plea agreement)? Because that doesn't really
make Polanski innocent of the charges; just sucks for him, procedurally.
I'd like to believe there was more "gray" to this case, because so many people support him, but I don't see it. Can anybody enlighten me?
