I agree, mostly just because a lot of the clothes were simply ugly. That red floral dress -- eww. And the red suit Samantha wears has absolutely no shape and made her look, well, old. I also didn't dig the amount of eye make-up Carrie wears with the V. Westwood gown - on Sarah Jessica Parker, I think less make-up is definitely more. I remember thinking that on the show, as well.
I generally liked the movie, but I think the "Fashion Week" scene was completely unneccessary. None of the other characters were really fashionistas like Carrie: Charlotte was preppy, not trendy; Samantha was bright suits at work and low-cut at night; Miranda was always work-appropriate, and Carrie herself didn't necessarily follow trends.
Also a question, semi-unrelated to this article, does anyone know how the women met? I rented the whole series over about two weeks, since I had watched most of the seasons out of order, and I don't remember any of the episodes explaining how the four ladies met, let alone became so crucial to each other. I'd really like to know, out of curiosity.
