Drink your own wine!
by chrislowthorpe
An interesting article but it never ceases to amaze me the amount of inverse snobbery most American wine writers or 'experts' appear to possess.

Whilst I agree that reasonable Californian wines of quality are quite thin on the ground at the moment, there really are some superb wines coming from Washington, Oregon etc. at good prices. However, a misplaced and possibly subconscious ideas of European sophistication, often appears to express itself in the defamation of American wines by these experts.

As a Brit who visits the US regularly I make a point of trying as many domestic wines as possible, across price ranges. I have rarely been disappointed. However, at home, I'm regularly disappointed by European wines, particularly French. Much better to explore New Zealand or some of the better Australians (American wines are unfortunately thin on the ground here unless you like Blossom Hill!) if you're looking for quality at a reasonable price.

You guys make some great wines. Drink some and be proud!
