Did Elizabeth Edwards use donor eggs?

Are you telling me that women who give birth after 45
must
have used donor eggs?? I don't think so. I live in a very rural community and even
I
have two friends who have given birth past 45 to "oops babies". My great-grandmother, a Lutheran pastor's wife, gave birth to the last of her 13 children at age 53, long before donor eggs or fertility treatments were available. My mother would have been 89 this year. She was an RN back in the 1940's and after she retired and we girls were older, she told us a story of a much, much, older woman who quietly and discreetly visited her OB's office. Her child was given up for adoption, and her equally elderly husband and 45 year old son were advised she was having surgery for a "benign abdominal tumor". Pregnancy at her age was unseemly and embarassing, so that info never would have made it into any record books. Granted, that was an unusual situation, but I think pregnancy into your late 40's was far more common before the invention of birth control and smaller families. Also, maybe Mrs. Edwards feels that her 8 and 6 year old children deserve to have the details of their conception and biological parentage kept out of the public eye. It's not about her, it's about them. As far as they know, she is their mom. It's not our business, and we don't have a right to know this one. . .
