Question Time
by blueshift
As a first reaction I love this idea from McCain. Hopefully, Obama will recognize it as one of those occasional points of insight from the other side and adopt it himself.

The extreme McCain makeover continues. He'll need it to cover up the simple fact that over the last eight years he has agreed with George Bush 95% of the time.

Obama 08!

True, and each attempt will alienate a few more hard core conservatives. McCain has a real narrow path to follow to November, and its going to get worse as people start actually paying attention to him.

Nevertheless I like this one idea, and its a sign of leadership to take the best ideas available no matter the source. So I hope Obama adopts this one when he's president.

In theory, it's great. Sure, maybe this would open up the administration and the government to the public. Perhaps oratory and rhetoric will come back into style. Fantasy leagues will crop up as bored policy wonks recruit different legislators and executive branchers to their coalitions, points given for metaphor, sharpened sarcasm, puns would count off (if there is a god). And people will truly be interested in government again.

But to tell you the truth, I don't think it would have the same oompfh as the British version (unlike the American version of THE OFFICE which has surpassed it's English pater).

Even calling some poor MP a some big girl's blouse for his weak stance on foot and mouth prevention sounds like Shakespeare compared to Steven's yelling SHUT UP! and how the internet is a bunch of tubes.

Granted Mccain is asking for alot, especially if he gets into the office with a democratic congress. I think you should at least appriciate the fact that he is more openly willing to list all the things that he would like to change, unlike obama who always talks of change but rarely ever lists them all off.
