Homer Is Not A Weener!
by Lalex

I can see where Sunsteen and Thaler’s book would make an interesting read. They (and Dahlia) have offered a way to reset our stupidity defaults according to Homer, which is no easy task no matter which way you look at it. Like Mr. Spock, they have, “DARED TO GO WHERE NO MAN HAS DARED TO GO.”

And dare I say, Homer is portrayed here as something of a champion of our id, I don’t know if Sigmund Freud (or the authors) would exactly approve of what we are discussing, but maybe we should go one step further and just rename the id, and call it “the Homer,” or even worse yet, “the Weener” in honor of Homer. Why not? Admit it, there have been many times you and I have uttered, “I am a weener,” in staccato fashion to ourselves instead of cursing. He's a convenient euphemism for the restless id.

Thank you, Homer, Dahlia, and Sunsteen and Thaler. I always knew down deep that Homer was a caricature of human nature, never to be underestimated. A modern day folk hero. He was not simply a lame excuse not to wash the dishes, take out the garbage, walk the dog, or read Tolstoy's War and Peace (even Wikipedia can only estimate the number of pages.). Now, at last, we have a plausible excuse to continue watching the Simpsons: It shows how far a person with a good heart can go. I guess you could say Dahlia has hit a homer with this piece. D’oh!
