Seen from the neutral eye, it looks pertinently clear that the ongoing tussle between the establishment's quarters and the civil society network in Pakistan over the issue of the restoration of judges has reached at its climax.The forces of civil society in Pakistan do fervently desire to restore the deposed judges, including the former Chief justice Iftikhar Mohammad Chaudry, and for this sublime cause the every segment of civil society is engaged in this crusade to truly restore the democratic-cum judicial order in Pakistan. Yet the establishment's forces are yet adamant to honour this echo of the civil society and it is also being perceived in Pakistan that Washington is too a party in this affairs of the independence of judiciary in Pakistan and by no means the US administration seems to be neutral in this crisis and the Bush administration is backing the Pakistani establishment to gain its vested interests. The many stalwarts in the Pakistani civil society justifiably argue that the US role in this sensitive issue should not be divergent to the values of human rights and the civil norms and they reasonably believe that by involving itself in the domestic affairs of Pakistan, the US is continuously damaging its image in the eye of many Pakistanis who already feel tired and sick of the US- imposed war on terror in the region as they view the ongoing war as the great US- game to get the strategic control of the sovereignty of the poor nations.
