20 Top Reasons West Virginians Will Vote for Hillary.

I know West Virginia and it's not like the rest of the country. Although there is a small chance of winning it back in November, both Democrats and Republicans are hopeless. I have always wondered how Jay Rockefeller survives. He must be a political genius. (Is he on anyone's short list for VP?)

Anyway, here are the 20 most common reasons cited by West Viginians for voting for Hillary:

1. I heard he was Muslim.

2. His wife's an atheist.

3. He's a terrorist.

4. He snorts coke.

5. He's an elitist because he's anti-gun and anti-religion.

6. He and his church plan to take over the country with "the blacks."

7. Al Qaeda has endorsed him.

8. How did Obama get into Harvard?

9. How does anyone get out of high school?

10. Hillary is a coal miner's daughter. My aunt told me so.

11. Obama isn't "one of us."

12. Obama thinks he's a "higher-type people." The nerve.

13. Obama is not "electobull" cause other folks (not me) won't vote for a Africkan.

14. Bill Clinton came by and said he never slept with that woman, and that's good enough for me.

15. Obama will confiscate our flag pins. Never mind we don't have any.

16. Obama gives the one finger salute to our flag and has pledged alliegance to Kenya.

17. His wife hates America.

18. His preacher hates America.

19. His mother married a black guy.

20. He's not a white-blooded, I mean full-blooded American hero like McCain...oh we're talking about Hillary. Her too. She served in Vietnam didn't she?

Wow -- you're meaner than I was. Love it.

I have a theory about this great country of ours. I think there's something in this grand American experiment started in 1776 that, over time, brings out both the very best and the very worst in people. It reminds me of one of those biology experiments where you're working with some bacteria in a petri dish and you put a drop of some solution into it and half the bacteria react one way and the other half react in the complete opposite way, but they're all still alive and sharing the same petri dish. It's as if the people in this country have evolved in two very distinct ways for two centuries, and yet there's also an interdependence, that half the people develop certain traits out of reaction to what they see in the other half. What's so interesting about the Clinton/McCain/Obama triangle is that it's realigning the two halves of the country. This November a lot of Democrats will vote for McCain out of contempt for Obama, and a lot of Republicans will vote for Obama out of disillusionment with the Bush administration. My guess, and my hope, is that the latter group will far outnumber the former.

This is exactly the kind of thing the Founding Fathers feared about a representative democracy, and why a lot of them were against the idea.

I really don't understand the contempt for Obama... is it because he is winning the Democratic nomination fairly? I suspect there is something else.
