Speaking as both an Arabic and English native speaker, I can see why Arabic can be a very difficult language to learn. None the less, just like any other language, all it takes is persistence, even though it does take a little longer.
Something that might help is asking how a native speaker would understand a phrase. Or the difference between a phrase in English and in Arabic, and why it's different.
It just paints a bigger picture of the nature of the language.
