Could it be that, if Obama, a Black American, a minority, just happens to win, then all notions/claims of America being a racist nation towards Blacks goes flying out the window? Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton, and Big D have less to complain about?

Really too simplistic to say that BD is angry over the possible prospect of having nothing more to bitch about.

I never saw Jim Crow's obituary anywhere, and racism is not dead in America. I even have to occasionally hear it from my wife, at which times I uncharacteristically chew her ass out royally.

To say that a black man running for office in a country where white peckerheads still have the majority of the population will not encounter racial bias is a bit of a stretch. Obama will not get many votes simply for no other reason than he is black.

Especially in the South and so-called red states.

This is just a sad fact of life.

I have said before, and I think BD would bear me out on this, that there is a different mindset in the black community than in the white one. This is only inevitable, given our nation's history on race relations.

I will endeavor to make no value judgement here, but there is a very fundamental difference in attitudes here, and this is something that only time will change.

If it ever does change.

Hurricane, you're probably right. Or he'll do what he normally does when someone points out a truthful fault in one of his postings: Either sidestep it and talk about something else or just ignore it. Maybe he can take a pledge of directly responding to people too.

Thank you Rob for speaking with such eloquence and reason. The world is not black and white but thinking is so much easier by just drawing lines and squawking about the guys that are on the other side. I am glad we had , have the United Nations. I am glad that my country has been made up of many nationalities , colors and food s. What a wonderful diverse accumulaton of people and ideas. and foods. I really have got to work on that diet.

With gas and food prices on the rise, the body fat reserve may be a blessing is disguise.

I agree that diversity makes us a stronger people. but it would also seem to be a frequent source of controversy. Ah well, at least it keeps life from becoming too boring.

Maybe BD should start a tourist resort in the 'Hood for Whitey. With all the standard ghetto amenities. Let them come in for a week (instead of just driving through with windows rolled up) to get a first-hand taste of how the other half lives, so to speak.

Assuming that the tourist types survived the experience (make them sign liability waivers, BD), they might come away with a different understanding of the situation.

It really is a different world, and for many, would probably be the education of a lifetime.
