Hillary's Odds

Okay, know one has been brave enough to say it, so now I’m going to venture forth and risk the outrage of Clinton supporters. Hillary has every right to stay in the race through the primaries. She also has the right to parade through the streets in a bikini. Of course that’s a preposterous allegory. Yes, there are those here who believe she still has a chance to win the election. However, I believe these folks might as well believe in the Tooth Fairy. The odds of Hillary winning the election are staggering. Here’s what I’ve learned:

According to Slate.com, Hillary now has about a 4.2 percent chance of winning the nomination; but I believe that if she persists in pursuing it, Hillary has a much greater chance of costing Democrats the nomination in the fall. If the candidates continue to attack each other rather than focusing on the issues that matter, Senator McCain will be allowed to continue selling his McBush policies unchecked.

Senator Clintonn is now trailing Obama by 700,000 votes, and trailing in pledged delegates and in number of states won. If you were to include the Florida votes, she still would trail by more than 400,000 votes. Of the 2,025 delegates needed to win, Obama has 1,848 and Clinton has 1690 of them. 2025 delegates are needed to win the nomination. This translates to 177 for Obama and 335 for Clinton. There are 492 delegates remaining. Even if she manages to split them, Obama will still be put over the edge to win the nomination. As much as I like and admire Senator Clinton, I place the odds of a Clinton win somewhere between slim and none.

If Hillary is trailing by 700,000 and she gained the one and a half million in Florida that voted for her, how could she still be trailing by 400,000?

I am not a mathematician, but your math does not add up. Been studying the Bush fuzzy Math? :o)

Where did you come up with that?

Sorry MA, you are mistaken. I think you might have thought Hillary garnered all the FL votes. The actual FL votes were:

Hillary Clinton

870,986

49.77%

0 [105]

Barack Obama

576,214

32.93%

0 [67]

I have to ask this. Why are you guys so scared? Why are you trying to short circuit the election? Why do you not want the rest of the states to vote?

Hillary is sure to win Kentucky, just south of Ohio and Indiana.Several other states are still in play. What about the voters in Michigan?

I never thought I would see fellow Democrats so arrogant they would demand the votes not be counted. You are worse than the Republicans were in 2000.

My respect for the Democratic party has dropped to nil. Putting Howard Dean, a known loser in charge has really brought the party to it's knees with a lot of help.

I understand Denny loving this, but not you!

Personally, MaryAnne, I don't actually care . .

I have no "favorites" in this election. I have tried to be a "neutral" observer to what is happening and have avoided making any Top Posts regarding the progress of the Democratic Primary. I was simply answering you question regarding the numbers.

Hillary's staying in the race is actually probably a good thing for the Democrats. What it does is guarentees way more press coverage for the Democrats than McCain.

It's her tactics that are hurting the Democrats.

What,Tactics,Midwest?

Have you heard Hillary and her followers calling for Obama to drop out? They have to listen to that crap every day!

Obama will not win this election! I am sure you guys are very happy to see this.

I am not! Let the primary play out,the Supers will decide who can win and on to the General!

BTW,I think the Delegate split and Supers are a dumb idea and hope to see them changed. It should be winner of the state take all!

ha ha ha So I guess it's pretty safe to say, Larry

that you and all the rest of your ilk are ready to blame Senator Clinton if Obama loses to McCain.

Got desperation much?

Connections to Reverend Wright and the implications thereof

Obama's past drug abuse

Obama not competent to be President

Obama only a possible candidate because he's black...

All from the Hillary camp.

One wonders what she'll throw at him next...

Then again so would Clinton.

Both are featherweights compared to McCain.

Democrats refuse to see it or just plain don't care but the rest of us see it and it matters.

Don't ever look at the FACTS, Larry

To quote Bill, "This is the biggest fairyland I've ever seen. Suddenly, it's all the fault of Obama and his supporters Hillary hasn't launched any negative ads, she hasn't run that kind of compaign. There must have been other reasons her major financial contributors left for Obama. There must have been other reasons why There must have been other reawos why some of her senior campaign members left her campaign rather than disgust with her negative campaign. It must be something to do with Rezko, Chicago dirty machine that Obama has raised so much money and done so well. Hillary's supporters haven't said one thing against Obama Somehow, it's all the fault of Obama supporters.

If you buy that, I've got some swamp land I'll sell cheap. Talk about BITTER!
