Eight Belles was a young filly. She would have been more muscled and fully developed if she had been older. Owners need to have more in mind than money. Horses should not be allowed to race until they are five. This would cut down on the amount of injuries that horses that race have on the track.

If horses were not allowed to run until 5 years old, there would be no horse racing. At least not in the U.S., and most countries, for that matter. She was huge a developed, and completely sound. I saw her train in person for all of Derby week. She was also very smart, relaxed and professional. Not some nut job running out of her skin. This was a freak accident.
