Of course Obama had to finally say Basta! Wright, as Huckabee so clearly pointed out, was out to torpedo the Obama candidacy. His vanity hurt, he didn't care whose hopes he smaashed... never mind Obama ... what about all the voters who supported him, all the workers who went door-to-door, all the contributors...

Spin it any way you like... Obama tried to walk the fine line between personal loyalty to a man who had meant much to him and repudiation, until Wright made it impossible for him to do anything else, but say in effect, he's gone right off the cliff... which by the way is Wright, increasingly... dazzlingly correct 95% of the time and a total out of control showboat, provoking however outrageously 5% of the time. It is the best show in town for a Sunday morning service, but it will hardly play nationally for a candidate who tries to unite and inspire rather than provoke and thumb his nose at others. Obama did what he had to do and he did it well. Keep yapping. It is now very old news.
