Who is Ron, Really
by Max Wickersham
With all the hoopla, lies, and 'he said, she said, I misspoke, what a joke; I can't remember what Ron Paul's promises are. Illegals (no one wants to take a firm stand on this one), lobyists, special interest, NAFTA, jobs, health care, and most of all is he honest, not self serving and socially responsible. Some one enlighten please (No sugar coating, evasive answers, or just plain lies, please)

Hi Max,

Dr. Paul is an humble man who believes that government works best when it follows the Constitution. Over his past 30 years in public office, he has never voted for a tax increase, so he is not in favor of taxing the people. He has always voted for a balanced budget, so he's for lower government spending and living within our means. Finally, he's for going to war with a declaration of such from Congress and not at the whim of the President, so he's for defending our borders at home and not policing the world, at large.

If you follow his record (and his recent appearances before Ben Bernanke on Capitol Hill), it's evident that Ron Paul is the only candidate who understands the cause of our economic crisis and has the know-how to resolve this mess. For more on Dr. Paul, please visit www.ronpaul2008.com

"Ron Paul is the only candidate who understands the cause of our economic crisis and has the know-how to resolve this mess"

American Heritage Dictionary: Candidate:

1. A person who seeks or is nominated for an office, prize, or honor.

I guess technically he is still seeking the nomination, but since I have as good of a chance as him, to call him a candidate is really stretching it. He was a candidate, now he is a side show.

FYI, I like some of his ideas, but let's keep it real.

"I like some of his ideas, but let's keep it real"

that goes to show YOU have no faith in people that can change things for the BETTER. you complaining about gas prices right now.... don't be.... you made your choice. yeah, let's keep it real.WHATEVER!!!!!!

Good one, but I was referring to his chances of becoming pres. I was not touting, endorsing, or praising the status quo.

I haven't complained about gas prices in awhile, thanks for reminding me. Gas prices suck!

BTW I haven't made my choice yet, KY has not yet had their primary.

I voted for Ron Paul in the primary & will happily write him in on the November ballot if he isn't on the ticket somewhere! Enough of having to hold my nose to vote 'lesser of two evils' candidates when there is an excellent one running. So, yes, Ron Paul is still a candidate for President, the best one for our country & certainly someone worth voting for.

:o)

Ahh, theres the rub. You see my friend, everybody is for policing the world. That is because it is needed for Globalization. The fake conservatives, (i.e. 90% of the today's republicans) like it because it pays for and covers the risks of US corporations doing business globally (and it is the Corporate rich that owns the Republican party) all in the name of "free enterprise"! [Somehow, the notion that corporations are supposed to pay the full cost of doing business as an essential concept of "free enterprise" has escaped these born-again republicans] The liberals of course like it - since they love Government paying for anything. But to their credit, they advocate taxing the rich and returning the money to the losers. In the replublican system, more and more people are falling into the abyss, with outsourced and stagnant wages, because when Uncle Sam pays for all the corporate cost of doing business overseas (in the form of policing), the corporations can achieve outsized gains from investing overseas than they can here. If they had to bear the risk and cost (as they should in a real free-enterprise), globalization would proceed at a much more reduced pace.

But the dems are also bought into this mess. The only difference is that they hold on to the fantasy that they can compensate the public (for the corporate giveaways) by taxing the profits and channeling them to Average Joe through "retraining" and "redistribution". This sells very well in US academia but is completely bogus and unsustainable.

Ron Paul's problem is that he calls for Uncle Sam not policing the world which will cut globalization (not global trade) by 90%. Frankly, that would be good for the US over the long term, stabilize the dollar and allow globalization to resume at a normal pace (rather than through artificial stimulation) that all countries can absorb. But that goes agains the grain of 99% of economists, journalists, lawyers and other elites who have benefited handsomely by this artificially created massive trade with the 3rd world countries through US Government risk-coverage - so they shudder at that very thought.
