Thx Nick and blueshift
by LaurieAnnM

for the replies.

You know I do know I have been ranting on about The Wright thing. It is a genuine concern of mine. But, I am starting to calm down a bit inside about this whole campaign and put it some sort of philosophical perspective now.

I may not really trust or feel sure or good about Obama right now but I do admit to a feeling of pride that it was the Democratic Party that was the first major party to ever nominate a minority candidate for president.

That is historic.

I'm proud that it was the democratic party that can always lay claim to this historic event.

As to so many elements of the Priamry season itself and the things have upset many of Hillary's supporters....it's still is tough to come to terms with.

But, for me, I am beginning to feel very much accepting of it now .And I will just continue to watch and see how the rest of campaign season shapes up.

Thanks for putting up with my concerns and helping me attempt to address them.

It's been a great thread!

Hey just saw this after all this time. You know you make a very excellent point there NS.Whether male or female the edia can affect the election and the candidate. I bet Palin is realizing this now. I hope what has been done to her will not affect her too much from staying in politics (that's just my view),but the media can surely be brutal at times.

Hi itspattee..I have been working on my posts and profile and favorites file as well as adding pics to FrayMates Photo profile and found this old thread and post of yours, as well, among all that internet housekeeping . Sorry I never got back to you. This was such a lovely and good thread and I throughly enjoyed it as well as the editor's pick it received.

It seems that even now with Palin the gender issue still pervades..howver your point is well taken. Most Hillary voters seem to come back to the fold. For those who have not well it's natural that always some will become renegades for varying reasons and for Hillary voters I beleive those who do not return to the fold it still holds that some of them feel still that her treatment by the media as well as the DNC is a prime factor in their decision. Are they biting off their nose to spite their face in the process so to speak?
Well, if always voting only the party line is what their main goal is I suppose so..but if the issue of gender and how women are treated and dealt with trumps that and has touched a very raw nerve among some women then..perhaps not.

Everyone must choose and be allowed to choose and decide as they will.

Best to you.

Thanks Laurie.

You know I was thinking about this last night and realized that I hadn't addressed any questions directly to you. So I appreciate you stepping up and trying to explain your thoughts and side.

I have to say that I hate the conformist label, but I know thats a perception that we've gotten and I think I understand why. Personally, I've never been to a rally of his and never felt the need to.

As for your original post, I think you are right. her run did change the shape of politics to come and she should be proud of that, as should all feminists. Also, she's not going anywhere. As you mentioned in another post this morning, she will most likely have a position of power in the senate for a long time.

Blueshift

Hey Blueshift. Just was rummaging through old threads and saw this. We had such a good discussion in here on this issue and looks like we were both right. HRC did get a good position within the Obama Administration. SOS is pretty darn good.:-)

I so enjoyed our conversations and this thread.Hope you're still around. You were nice to chat with.

Hi LauriAnn,

I'm not too bad, considering how hard it is for everyone these days. We had our first round of layoffs last friday and it was depressing to see people go, particularly because I work at a nonprofit so everyone really cares about there work.

I hope you're doing well and glad you get to see HRC rewarded (recognized? rewarded isn't quite right).

Regards,

Blueshift

NightSwimmer:

Go ahead.

Include Florida and Michigan.

Hillary still lost the election.

But it isn't her fault. It's the misogyny.

Yeah...

That's the ticket!

No, Nightswimmer...Obama will lose in the general because of his lying about being a good guy for hope and change...when who he really is..is a liar who goes to an anti white racist church for twenty years.

They may nominate him..but he won't win in the fall.

I called the County Registrar yesterday to change my party affiliation from dem to Indy.

I am sure many others will as well.

Hate to say I told you so.

No... not really.

I told you so.

Gosh! I am so sorry to hear that, blueshift!
I know everything is being tightened up all over the place!

I'm lucky I work in an field where there is always a demand. But so many places are really under pressure. I just worry about the coming inflation that might well increase as the top richest folks lose their tax breaks and thus have to offfset by raising prices even more.

Let's hope for the best. I know Obama is doing his best top help us dig out of this mess.

Nice always to hear from you.

Oh now, why be like that, NS?

Many Democrats changed to Independent while Bill Clinton was in office so there is a history of that...

Damn. I missed this one itspattee. Wonder if you are still around here. Hope so. But it caught my eye because you know I did the same thing around August of 2008. Switched from Democrat to Indy because the entire election season and the mess that was the manner with which Brazil and Dean so front loaded the primaries and caucuses really bothered me.

Hope to check out the Fray Articles here soon and get back around here. Hope you'll be around.Hope Blueshift still is, too.
