principles being contingent on egotistic self-promotion, the ICPers have always reified and concretized far more than any other type of poster, the signs and devices and "objective" feedback tools of the Fray. View counts, reply counts, uprates/downrates, tags, checkmarks, etc.---even as they strive to manipulate them best they can, or with telling overcompensation deny their "crucial" significance, this for ICPers is what passes for an objective metric of their quality and significance (the respect and praise of smart, honest posters obviously not being available since their initial exposures as lying weasels). It's how ICPers can get validation or revenge (same thing, for them) for the absence of that good reputation, by saying "See? Look how important I actually am. Look at my View Count. Look how many Uprates I have [even if from LAM sockpuppets created exclusively for the occasion]! Look how how correct my assessment of something is---why, there's an Official Fray Tag which reflects it!!".
Speaking of concrete reflections, but sad but crucial bottom line is that the Toad, more than any other single poster ever, even the Oaf and Gatewood, valued her Star to the nth degree, and suffered grievously from its removal. Crucial for her, because it retroactively freed her from content, from having to produce any substantive posts whatsoever. It was sufficient to hint at her prowess---the Star proved the prowess was there, even if no one ever saw it, or remembered ever having seen it. The Toad's been living out the pathetic denouement to "The Star Poster's New Clothes" ever since. Everything else springs from this: remember how for years, until very recently indeed, it was always, "Ah, look how BOTF has declined....what dregs here now, it's a wonder I ever deign to post here"----because BOTF did not Value Her, as in her Starred Days? Hmmmm, looks like BOTF just became the Beloved, Quality "Home Board" of the Toad once again, all of a sudden, always has been, bleeech.....
